CUTTING TOOL AND PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING SAME ABSTRACT A cutting tool comprising a base. As the base is be- ing cleaned and heated, a reacting gas is introduced. This is done at a temperature permitting the main component of the gas to dissolve in the base material. Further heating of the working surface, accompanied by the formation of a base layer and a thermostable transi- tion layer is carried out until the interphase equilibrium between its components is established.
