A cutting tool (10) has a shank (12) with a cylindrical portion that is adapted to fit closely within a tool holder (16). The shank (12) is adapted to be engaged by a setscrew (22) of the tool holder at a first contact point. A clearance surface (28) is provided opposite the first contact point (38). The clearance surface (28) terminates adjacent two circumferentially spaced points that make contact with the tool holder (16) upon tightening the setscrew (22). These contact points (44) are circumferentially spaced from the first contact point (38) angular distances greater than 90 degrees and less than 270 degrees.

L'invention porte sur un outil tranchant (10) pourvu d'une tige (12) présentant une partie cylindrique qui est adaptée pour être fermement maintenue dans un porte-outil (16). La tige (12) est conçue pour être introduite par une vis sans tête (22) du porte-outil au niveau d'un premier point de contact. Une surface de dépouille (28) est disposée à l'opposé du premier point de contact (38). Cette surface de dépouille (28) se termine contre deux points espacés de manière circonférentielle qui sont en contact avec le porte-outil (16) lors du serrage de la vis sans tête (22). Ces points de contact (44) sont espacés de manière circonférentielle du premier point de contact (38) à des distances angulaires supérieures à 90· et inférieures à 270 degrés.
