A rectangular blade-type cutting tool (10) having two edge-on cutting inserts (14, 16) mounted at one end of the blade in a staggered formation with their cutting edges (67) partially overlapping. This type of cutting blade finds particular application in disc-type cutting tool assemblies (72) used for cutting pipes (78). In such a cutting tool assembly the blade-type cutting tools in accordance with the present invention are equally peripherally distributed on an end face of the cutting tool assembly with the operative cutting edges of each of cutting blade inwardly directed and equally distanced with respect to the axis of rotation of the cutting tool assembly. With such a cutting tool assembly it is only necessary to cut the thickness of a pipe without the necessity of passing across its entire diameter allowing for quick and economical cutting of the pipe.
La présente invention concerne un outil (10) de coupe du type à lame rectangulaire qui comprend deux plaquettes amovibles (14, 16) de bord qui sont montées en quinconce à une extrémité de la lame avec leurs bords coupants (67) se chevauchant partiellement. Ce type de lame coupante est tout particulièrement utile dans des ensembles outil de coupe (72) du type à disque utilisés pour couper des tuyaux (78). Dans un tel ensemble outil de coupe, les outils de coupe du type à lame selon la présente invention sont répartis de manière égale sur le pourtour d'une face terminale de l'ensemble outil de coupe de telle sorte que les bords coupants efficaces de chaque lame de coupe soient orientés vers l'intérieur et espacés d'une distance égale par rapport à l'axe de rotation de l'ensemble outil de coupe. Avec un tel ensemble outil de coupe, il est simplement nécessaire de couper l'épaisseur d'un tuyau sans devoir traverser tout son diamètre, ceci permettant de couper rapidement et économiquement le tuyau.
