ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a cyanide process for the recovery of gold from complex sulphide bearing gold ores wherein in a preferred embodiment of the invention, a pulp of the ore is subjected to aeration conditioning at at least one optimum pH point resulting in gold recoveries exceeding 90%, reduction in cyanidation of gold dissolution time to a maximum of 24 hours, and making it possible to recycle substantially all of the barren solution.
