The present invention provides for cyanine dyes as near IR quenchers. The cyanine dyes have absorption wavelengths in the near-infrared region of about 650-900 nm and are essentially non-fluorescent. The dyes of the invention have at least one linking group. The present invention also provides substantially non-fluorescent, NIR probes. Biological assays based on these novel, substantially non-fluorescent, NIR probes are also provided.

La présente invention concerne des colorants de cyanine utilisés comme extincteurs de fluorescence dans le proche infrarouge. Ces colorants de cyanine présentent des longueurs d'onde d'absorption dans le proche infrarouge comprises entre environ 650 et 900 nm et sont essentiellement non fluorescents. Les colorants de l'invention comprennent au moins un groupe de liaison. La présente invention concerne également des sondes proche infrarouge sensiblement non fluorescentes.
