A cyanine dye having formula (II), wherein R1-R8 are each independently selected from a group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl group, and C0-C4 alkyl group having a hydrophilic substituent thereon. R11 and R12 are chosen to include a free or protected thiol, amine or hydroxyl substituent capable of reacting with a target molecule through a nucleophilic displacement mechanism. The dye is useful in labeling a variety of target molecules. Processes are described for synthesizing suitable heterocyclic and indole derivatives as precursors for the aforementioned cyanine dyes.

La présente invention concerne une teinture de cyanure représentée par la formule (II). Dans cette formule R¿1?-R¿8? sont chacun indépendamment sélectionnés dans un groupe hydrogène, C¿1?-C¿6? groupe alkyle, et C¿0?-C¿4? groupe alkyle possédant un substituant hydrophile. R¿11? et R¿12? sont choisis tels qu'ils comprennent un thiol protégé ou non protégé, un substituant amine ou hydroxyle capable de réagir avec une molécule cible par un mécanisme de déplacement nucléophile. Cette teinture convient pour marquer diverses molécules cibles. Cette invention concerne aussi des processus permettant de synthétiser des dérivés indols et hétérocycliques convenables tels que des précurseurs pour les teintures de cyanure susmentionnées.
