Cyanine Dyes For Sensitizing Silver Halide Emulsions To Infrared Radiation And Photographic Elements Including Them Abstract Cyanine dyes including two nitrogen containing heterocyclic nuclei, linked to each other through a rigidized conjugated 7, 9 or 11 carbon atom methine chain to form an amidinium-ion resonance system, are very good for sensitizing silver halide emulsions for use in photographic elements to be exposed to infrared radiation if one of said heterocyclic nuclei is 5-methyl-6-methoxy-benzothiazole.
