There is provided cyclic amidine compounds of the following formula (I) wherein: A1 and A2 are hydrogen atom, optionally substituted alkyl group; optionally substituted aryl group; or optionally substituted heterocyclic group; and X is -C(R1,R2)-C(R3,R4)-, -C(R5)=C(R6)-, -C(R7,R8)-C(R9,R10)- C(R11,R12)-, or -C(R13,R14)-C(R15,R16)-NH- (wherein, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11R12, R13, R14, R15 and R16 are hydrogen atom; halogen atom; optionally substituted alkyl group; optionally substituted aryl group; or optionally substituted heterocyclic group;or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. These compounds have good affinity for .alpha.4.beta.2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and activate the same to thereby exert a preventive or therapeutic effect on cerebral dysfunction.

L'invention concerne des composés amidines cycliques de formule générale (I), ou des sels de ceux-ci, acceptables au plan pharmaceutique. Dans ladite formule (I), A?1¿ et A?2¿ représentent atome d'hydrogène, groupe alkyle éventuellement substitué ; groupe aryle éventuellement substitué ; ou groupe hétérocyclique éventuellement substitué ; et X représente -C(R?1¿,R?2¿)-C(R?3¿,R?4¿)-, -C(R?5¿)=C(R?6¿)-, -C(R?7¿,R?8¿)-C(R?9¿,R?10¿)-C(R?11¿,R?12¿)-, ou -C(R?13¿,R?14¿)-C(R?15¿,R?16¿)-NH- (R?1¿, R?2¿, R?3¿, R?4¿, R?5¿, R?6¿, R?7¿, R?8¿, R?9¿, R?10¿, R?11¿, R?12¿, R?13¿, R?14¿, R?15¿ et R?16¿ représentent atome d'hydrogène ; atome d'halogène ; groupe alkyle éventuellement substitué ; groupe aryle éventuellement substitué ; ou groupe hétérocyclique éventuellement substitué. Lesdits composés possèdent une bonne affinité pour les récepteurs nicotiniques de l'acétylcholine et activent ces derniers, de sorte qu'ils aient un effet thérapeutique ou préventif sur le dysfonctionnement cérébral.
