Abstract of the Invention Amic acids, cyclic imides and mixtures thereof which contain both diacyl hydrazide functionalities and hindered amine functionalities are prepared by reacting non- halogenated cyclic anhydrides with hindered amine light stabilizers containing reactive hydrazido functionalities in inert solvents or in inert polymeric compositions in a melt blending step. The compositions protect polymeric compositions against the degradative effects of heat and light.
