2058435 9115712 PCTABS00007 A cyclone combustion apparatus (11) includes combustion chamber (14) having a substantially cylindrical wall (20), a substantially cylindrical exit throat (22) at the rear end (18) of the combustion chamber (14), a fuel supplier into the combustion chamber (14) at the front end, an air supplier into the combustion chamber (14) for forming a cyclonic flow pattern of hot gases for combustion, and a heat exchanger surrounding and extending the axial length of the combustion chamber (14). The air supplier includes a plenum chamber (56) having an air inlet (58) and an annular air supply opening (62) in communication with and coaxial with the combustion chamber (14). The annular air supply opening (62) has spaced radial vanes (60) tilted at a selected angle from the axis of the combustion chamber (14). The fuel supplier includes a fuel plenum chamber having a fuel inlet (69) and a plurality of radially spaced fuel holes (70) for supplying fuel in the annular air supply opening (62) between the spaced radial vanes (60).
