A cyclone combustor (10) uses a novel pre-mixture injection scheme to optimize performance. The cyclone combustor includes a cylindrical combustor can (12) and three fuel/air premixing tubes (30) entering the combustor can radially, with a tangential offset. The tangential offset is designed to provide an optimized circulation in the combustor can for improvement of liner life span, flame stability and engine turn-down. The ignition (46) and pilot fuel systems are placed to take advantage of the premixing tube entry locations and the tangential direction of the mixture flow momentum in the combustor can. The special combination of the parallel axes (14,36) of the combustor can and the mixing tubes provides a right angle between an outlet section (34) and the major tube section (32) of each premixing tube. The cyclone combustor of the present invention can meet the requirements for low NOx and CO emissions.

L'invention porte sur un four cyclonique (10) utilisant une nouvelle logique d'injection à prémélange pour optimiser la performance. Le four cyclonique comprend une enveloppe cylindrique (12) et trois tubes de prémélange combustible/air (30) pénétrant radicalement dans l'enveloppe, avec un décalage tangentiel. Le décalage tangentiel est conçu pour générer une circulation optimale dans l'enveloppe du four cyclonique de façon à accroître la durée de vie de la chemise, améliorer la stabilité de la flamme et accroître la marge de réglage effective du moteur. Le système d'allumage (46) et le système de combustion pilote (42) sont placés de façon à bénéficier des endroits de pénétration des tubes de prémélange et de la direction tangentielle de l'impulsion de l'écoulement du mélange dans l'enveloppe du four cyclonique. La combinaison spéciale des axes parallèles (14,36) de l'enveloppe du four cyclonique et des tubes de mélange forme un angle droit entre une section d'évacuation (34) et la section principale (32) de chaque tube de prémélange. Le four cyclonique de cette invention permet de répondre aux exigences des faibles taux d'émission de NOx et CO.
