ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydrocyclone for separating fish roe from water is disclosed. The hydrocyclone consists of a cylindrical chamber with a tapering bottom section. The chamber has a tangential inlet at the top and a central over- flow extending axially into the inlet end. The central opening at the bottom is confronted by a piston head that limits the bottom opening of the hydro- cyclone to an angular gap of variable dimensions so as to enable the selective control of the specific gravity of the material discharged.
