Compounds of general formula (I) characterized in that R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consist- ing of COOR, CN, aryl, substituted aryl, COOH, halogen, C(O)NHR4, C(O)NR5R6; X and Y are independently se- lected from the group consisting of H, COOH, COOR, CN, R3CO-, C(O)NHR4, C(O)NR5R6, P(O)(OR7)2 and SO2R8; with the proviso that X and Y are not both H when R1 and R2 are both COOCH3 or both phenyl; or X and Y together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a car- bocyclic or heterocyclic ring system which may contain oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen atoms; and R, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are various groups. Polymers and copolymers derived from such compounds.

L'invention concerne des composés de formule générale (I). Dans cette formule, R<1> et R<2> sont choisis d'une manière indépendante parmi les groupes COOR, CN, aryle, aryle substitué, COOH, halogène, C(O)HNR<4>, C(O)NR<5>R<6>. X and Y sont choisis d'une manière indépendante parmi les groupes H, COOH, COOR, CN, R<3>CO-, C(O)NHR<4>, C(O)NR<5>R<6>, P(O)(OR<7>)2 et SO2R<8>, avec comme condition que X et Y ne soient pas tous deux H lorsque R<1> et R<2> sont tous deux des groupes COOCH3 ou des groupes phényle. X et Y peuvent aussi former avec l'atome de carbone auquel ils sont fixés un groupe carbocyclique ou un groupe hétérocyclique qui peut renfermer des atomes d'oxygène, de soufre ou d'azote. R, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7> et R<8> sont différents groupes. L'invention concerne les polymères et les copolymères dérivés de ces composés.
