A cylinder head for a four-cycle engine having combus- tion chamber holes formed in the lower surface thereof, and mounting at least one rotatable cam shaft along the upper surface. The cylinder head may also mount a rocker shaft to permit use with either a 1-cam 2-valve engine or a 1-cam 4-valve engine. In place of the rocker shaft, the cylinder head may mount a second rotatable cam shaft so as to permit use on a 2-cam 4-valve engine.
