ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A pin-tumbler in which each tumbler within the fixed part of the lock is made of two parts consisting mainly of pins with their respective housing, one pin telescopically slidable within the other both being urged by springs against the free space in the centre of the inner housing of the rotating cylinder into which the key can be lengthwise inserted, the outer walls of the outer pin forming between them a profile of one or more raised steps or depressions corresponding to the profile of the said insertible key which key has a profile of several adjacent notches, each notch having either raised steps or depressions or a flat surface symmetrically arranged around the central line of the notch which steps or depressions are adapted to engage the corresponding steps or depressions of the upper edges of the pins.
