A reversible lockset having a privacy function is disclosed. In either a left hand application or a right hand application the operative vertically upstanding privacy lever can be released by displacing the inner handle downwardly. In either application the privacy lever can only be rotated to its vertically up position and the handle can only be rotated down to open the door.
