With the identification of the B61 gene and its product, protein assays of biological fluids as well as nucleic acid probes and antibodies raised to the gene product can be used in a variety of hybridization and immunological assays to detect an impending inflammatory response. Such detection will enable earlier administration of appropriate therapy in immune response diseases.
