A liposome having a lipid bilayer, where the lipid bilayer includes either the L or D stereoisomer of an ether lipid or a non-equal mixture of both. Most preferably the liposome also comprises (a) an underivatized phosphatidylcholine, (b) a sterol; (c) about 5-20 mole % of a phosphatidylethanolamine linked to a dicarboxylic acid at the ethanolamine group of the phosphatidylethanolamine, and (d) greater than about 10 mole % to less than about 30 mole % of either L or D stereoisomer of an ether lipid. The liposome may be used as an anti-cancer or anti-inflammatory agents.

L'invention concerne un liposome qui comporte une bicouche lipidique, cette dernière contenant soit le stéréoisomère D soit le stéréoisomère L d'un éther-lipide, ou un mélange inégal des deux. Le liposome comprend également, de préférence, a) un phosphatidylcholine non dérivé, b) un stérol, c) environ 5 à 20 % molaires d'une phosphatidyléthanolamine liée à un acide dicarboxylique au groupe éthanolamine de la phosphatidyléthanolamine et d) plus de 10 % molaires environ à moins de 30 % molaires environ du stéréoisomère D ou du stéréoisomère L d'un éther-lipide. Le liposome peut être utilisé comme agent anti-cancéreux ou anti-inflammatoire.
