ABSTRACT D-Homosteroids of the formula (I) Image wherein the broken line in the C ring represents an optional carbon-carbon bond, R3 represents an oxo, (.alpha.-H, .beta.-OH) or (.alpha.-H, .beta.-O-acyl) group, R18 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R17.alpha..beta. represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl-(lower alkyl), benzyl, furfuryl or tetrahydropyranyl group and R17.alpha..alpha. represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl, ethynyl, vinyl, allyl, methallyl, propadienyl, 1-propynyl, butadiynyl or chloroethynyl group, which are usefule for the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations with hormonal activity and methods for the preparation thereof.
