The present invention relates generally to the use of novel hydrophobically associating polyelectrolyte compositions as coagulants. The use of said novel hydrophobically associating polyelectrolyte compositions for dewatering coal tailings, clean coal products, mineral slurries, as well as for the clarification of water contained in coal refuse slurries is disclosed. The polyelectrolyte compositions are hydrophobically associating copolymers of diallyldimethylammonium chloride (DADMAC) and vinyl trialkoxysilane and, preferably, vinyl trimethoxysilane (VTMS).
Cette invention concerne, de manière générale, l'utilisation de nouvelles compositions de polyélectrolytes à associations hydrophobes en tant qu'agents coagulants. Elle décrit l'utilisation de ces nouvelles compositions de polyélectrolytes à associations hydrophobes pour la déshydratation des résidus de charbon, des produits de charbon pur, des schlamms minéraux, tout comme pour la clarification de l'eau contenue dans les boues des résidus de la préparation du charbon. Ces compositions de polyélectrolytes sont des copolymères à associations hydrophobes de chlorure de diallylméthylammonium (DADMAC) et de trialkoxysilane de vinyle, et, de préférence de triméthoxysilane de vinyle (VTMS).
