DAMPER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A compact damper providing an even and adjustable damping effect is provided. The damper includes a shaft fixed to a gymnastic apparatus, a rotator sleeved on the shaft and securing thereto a first plurality of abrasive elements, a positioner fixed to the apparatus and attaching thereto a second plurality of abrasive elements passing therethrough the rotator alternately arranging thereon the first and second elements, and adjusting member slidably engaging with the shaft, an elastic member mounted between the adjusting member and the abrasive elements, and a transmitting element engaging with the rotator.
