ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Actuator assembly for use in association with a damper adapted to be mounted in air duct systems and having damper blades operable to partly or completely block the duct, such actuating assembly having a drive shaft adapted to be coupled to a motor, an operating arm rotatably mounted and connectible with such damper blades, in such a fashion that rotation of the operating arm will cause such damper blades to operate, a coupling arm attached to such shaft and being interengageable with such operating arm for operating same upon rotation of the shaft by the motor, a spring connected between the operating arm and the coupling arm, and a retainer restraining movement of such operating arm independently of such coupling arm, such spring moving such operating arm relative to such coupling arm upon releasing of the retaining means, in response to a predetermined condition.
