ABSTRACT A damper mechanism includes a frame defining an aperture and a closure for the aperture. The closure is hinged at the edge of the aperture such that the closure can swing between a first position in which it closes the aperture and asecond position in which the aperture is open. A crank arm is mounted for rotation about a crank axis, and a link is connected between the closure and thecrank arm in such a way that the crank arm can be moved between a first control position in which the closure closes the aperture and a second control position in which the closure leaves the aperture open. The configuration of the mechanism is such that, as the crank arm approaches its first control position from its second control position, the mechanical advantage of the crank arm increases.
