A B S T R A C T A fire damper (10) with mounting structure Which permits the dampers easy installation in a building ventilation duct or passage without the use of conventional, external flanges which must be bolted on at the installation site. The damper (10) includes a peripheral frame (12) having internally threaded, tubular elements (40) secured to the inside of the frame (12) and aligned with apertures (38) extending through the frame(12). Threaded studs (42) in the elements (40) have self-boring, conical noses (46) so that the studs (42) may be advanced into gripping engagement with the proximal building wall.
