ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention seeks to enhance the riding comfort and stability of bicycles. It furthers and corroborates the concept that the comfort of a bicycle ride may be substantially enhanced if in addition to being equipped with a mechanical/hydraulic seat post (which are now available on the market), the bicycle's front wheel is also given a "suspension" capability. The validity of this concept has been recognized for decades insofar as it applies to motor cycles on which distinct shock absorbers on each wheel represent standard equipment. To this end, two versions of a front wheel dampening device are proposed: one introduces a resilient plastic or rubber cushion between the rotatable handle-bar and the stem clamp, while the second gives also a shock absorbing capability to the rotatable handle-bar by using a steel torsion bar which acts as a strong and stable spring between the rotatable handle-bar and the stem.
