INVENTOR: ERNST ACH INVENTION: DAMPING STOPS FOR HYDRAULIC JACKS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention is primarily used in hydraulic elevators or lifts or the like. A damping stop is arranged at a head end of a hydraulic jack in the form of a bushing made of a synthetic material, typically plastics. The purpose of this bushing is to damp movement at the upper travel limit of the elevator which corresponds to the stopping point of the elevator or lift cabin at the upper end of its travel. The synthetic material bushing is compressed between a flange of a piston and a lower abutment or contact surface at a cylindrical insert of the jack until the internal pressure assumes a predetermined value. For uniform deformation of the synthetic material bushing over its entire length steel stabilizing rings are disposed circumferentially thereof substantially equidistantly from each other. The intermediate spaces or regions of the synthetic material bushing located between the stabilizing rings thus are subjected to approximately the same increase in their outer diameter. After release from the load the synthetic material bushing again assumes its original shape when the lift or the like is lowered. - 1 -
