The present invention relates to a data carrier, especially a value document, such as a banknote, identification card and the like, having a support (20) in which a see-through region (12) is formed by a line grid composed of a plurality of parallel cutting lines (22), there being arranged within the see- through region (12) a motif region (30) having a visual impression that is changed in reflected light and/or transmitted light and that is developed in the form of a pattern, characters or a code.
