Hybrid ARQ techniques for error handling are described. The amount of redundancy transmitted in response to a first NACK message associated with a first attempt to decode a data block is variable. The number of redundancy units transmitted (and/or requested) can be selected based on various criteria including, for example, estimated channel quality, estimated block quality, memory usage, a number of outstanding blocks, etc.

L'invention porte sur des techniques ARQ (demande automatique de retransmission) hybrides de traitement des erreurs. La quantité de redondances émises en réponse à un premier message NACK (sans accusé de réception) associé à une première tentative de décodage d'un bloc de données est variable. Le nombre d'unités de redondances émises (et/ou requises) peut être choisi en fonction de différents critères tels que par exemple la qualité estimée des canaux, la qualité estimée des blocs, l'utilisation de la mémoire, le nombre de blocs circulant etc.
