An encoder (200) and decoder (400) or (500) in- crease the efficiency of handling duplicate strings in the input data. The encoder continues its string matching procedure until a longest matched string is found, with- out terminating prematurely due to matching on a last added string. In encoding duplicate strings, the encoder may thus send the codeword corresponding to the free entry in the decoder. The decoder, upon receiving the codeword corresponding to its free entry, recovers the encoded string by outputting the string from the imme- diately previous codeword followed by the innovation character of that string.
Un codeur (200) et un décodeur (400) ou (500) augmentent l'efficacité du traitement des chaînes en double dans les entrées de données. Le codeur poursuit sa procédure d'appariement des chaînes jusqu'à ce que la chaîne la plus longue ait été appariée, sans terminer prématurément la procédure du fait de l'appariement de la dernière chaîne ajoutée. Lors du codage des chaînes en double, le codeur peut ainsi envoyer le mot de code correspondant à l'entrée disponible du décodeur. Le décodeur, ayant reçu le mot de code correspondant à son entrée disponible, restitue la chaîne codée en sortant la chaîne correspondant au mot de code immédiatement antérieur suivie du caractère nouveau de cette chaîne.
