A lossless data compression system comprising a dictionary (30) based on content addressable memory and a coder (40) having between them a critical path including a feedback loop forming a dictionary adaption path, in which circuit means (42) is connected in the feedback loop so that the dictionary can be updated using data from a previous comparison cycle at the same time as the coder codes a current comparison cycle. The circuit means (42) has a current adaptation vector (58, 62, 66) and a next adaption vector (60, 64, 68); at leach search step the current adaptation vector updates data in the dictionary and also rearranges the next adaptation vector. Compression speed is increased.
Selon l'invention, un système de compression de données, sans perte, comprend un dictionnaire (30) basé sur une mémoire adressable de contenu et un codeur (40) comportant entre eux un chemin critique contenant une boucle de rétroaction formant un chemin d'adaptation de dictionnaire, et dans lequel un circuit (42) est relié à la boucle de rétroaction de façon que le dictionnaire puisse être mis à jour en utilisant des données provenant d'un cycle de comparaison précédent au même moment où le codeur code un cycle de comparaison courant. Le circuit (42) possède un vecteur d'adaptation courant (58, 62, 66) et un vecteur d'adaptation suivant (60, 64, 68), et à chaque étape de recherche le vecteur d'adaptation courant permet une mise à jour des données dans le dictionnaire et aussi un réarrangement du vecteur d'adaptation suivant. La rapidité de compression est ainsi améliorée.
