- 7 - Abstract A method for preserving data is described which are stored on a magnetically coated carrier. During the original recording of data storage capacity is reserved. In every read mode the stored data are checked and evaluated and in the case, that a predetermined raw error rate is exceeded, then the data are re-stored in an available, left-free area.
