A method for performing address and data transfers among a plurality of different units of a data processing system having a system bus which includes an address bus and a data bus. The system uses arbitration phase, address transfer phase, and data transfer phase operations which require the use of unique handshake signals at each phase so as to permit address and data transfers to occur on a suitable priority basis with respect to different ones of such units in a pipelined manner using non-multiplexed, asynchronous operations.

L'invention est une méthode de transfert d'adresses et de données entre les différentes unités d'une pluralité d'unités qui fait partie d'un système de traitement de données ayant un bus système qui comprend un bus d'adresses et un bus de données. Ce système effectue des opérations d'arbitrage, de transfert d'adresses et de transfert de données qui nécessitent l'utilisation de signaux d'entrée en communication particuliers à chaque opération afin que les transferts d'adresses et de données entre ces différentes unités se fassent sur une base prioritaire appropriée en mode pipeline au moyen d'opérations asynchrones non multiplexées.
