When the same object appearing in a moving picture is divided into a plurality of items of data (access units), search results using meta data is easily displayed. A meta data stream includes two or more access units AUs having an object_id for specifying whether or not objects designated by object region data in two access units AUs are semantically identical, and an object_subid for specifying whether or not the object region data in the two access units AUs are data on the same scene. From the meta data stream, one of a plurality of access units AUs is selected (S8200 or S8206), the access units being determined to be the same objects by the object_id and being determined to be the same scene by the object_subid (S8203), and the selected access unit AU is used to search for an object (S8201).
Lorsqu'un même objet apparaissant dans une image animée est divisé en une pluralité d'éléments de données (unités d'accès), des résultats de recherche utilisant des métadonnées sont facilement affichés. Un train de métadonnées comprend au moins des unités d'accès AU ayant un identificateur d'objet (ojbect_id) permettant de spécifier si des objets désignés par des données d'une région objet dans deux unités d'accès AU sont ou non sémantiquement identiques, ainsi qu'un sous-identificateur d'objet (object_subid) permettant de spécifier si les données d'une région objet dans les deux unités d'accès AU sont ou non des données présentes sur la même scène. A partir du train de métadonnées, l'une des unités d'accès de la pluralité d'unités d'accès AU est sélectionnée (S8200 ou S8206), les unités d'accès étant déterminées comme étant les mêmes objets par l'identificateur d'objet (object_id) et étant déterminées comme étant la même scène par le sous-identificateur d'objet (object_subid) (S8203), et l'unité d'accès sélectionné AU est utilisé pour la recherche d'un objet (S8201).
