ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A simplified current pump or SCP DC-DC power converter includes in series with a voltage power supply PS at least one electrical current controlling and/or limiting means ECC, energy storage and switching capaci- tor of capacitance CO, electrical transformer means T with at least one secondary winding TS and with a primary winding TP with a selected secondary winding TS to primary winding TP turns ratio N. A shunt switch SS is connected to ground with a shunt diode across it, switch SS being connected from ground to a point P between the ECC and the capacitor CO. An output diode comprising at least one diode defined as the charging diode is connected between a high side point S of one secondary winding TS of the transformer T and an elec- trical load in a direction which allows the charging diode to conduct current to the load when the shunt switch SS is switched ON.
