A deactivating device (100) for magnetic markers in an electronic article surveillance (EAS) system includes a housing adapted to constrain typical audio and video cassettes in preferable orientations with respect to first (110) and second deactivating surfaces (112). The first deactivating surface includes a first magnetic insert (130). which includes a first magnet designed to produce a deactivating magnetic field which deactivates markers affixed to audio and/or video cassettes without causing audible signal degradation of the prerecorded magnetic media within the audio or video cassette. The second deactivating surface includes a second magnetic insert (140) and second magnet designed to produce a deactivating magnetic field which deactivates markers placed in the recessed edge of video cassette without causing audible signal degradation of the prerecorded magnetic media contained in the video cassette. An alternate magnetic insert which can be substituted for the first and second magnetic inserts is also described.
Un dispositif de désactivation (100) pour marqueurs magnétiques dans un système de surveillance électronique d'articles comporte un boîtier permettant de maintenir des cassettes audio et vidéo classiques selon des orientations préférables par rapport aux première (110) et seconde (112) surfaces de désactivation. La première surface de désactivation comporte un première pièce rapportée magnétique (130) comprenant un premier aimant conçu pour produire un champ magnétique de désactivation des marqueurs fixés sur les cassettes audio et/ou vidéo, sans que cela ne dégrade, de façon audible, le signal du support magnétique pré-enregistré contenu à l'intérieur de la cassette audio ou vidéo. La seconde surface de désactivation comporte une seconde pièce rapportée magnétique (140), et un second aimant conçu pour produire un champ magnétique de désactivation des marqueurs placés dans le bord en retrait de la cassette vidéo, sans que cela ne dégrade, de façon audible, le signal du support magnétique pré-enregistré contenu dans la cassette vidéo. Une pièce rapportée magnétique de remplacement des première et seconde pièces rapportées magnétiques est également décrite.
