The present invention relates to novel Death Domain Containing Receptor-5 (DR5) proteins which are members of the tumor necrosis (TNF) receptor family, and have now been shown to bind TRAIL. In particular, isolated nucleic acid molecules are provided encoding the human DR5 proteins. DR5 polypeptides are also provided as are vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing the same. The invention further relates to screening methods for identifying antagonists and antagonists of DR5 activity.

La présente invention a trait à de nouvelles protéines de récepteur 5 contenant un domaine de mort (DR5), qui constituent des membres de la famille des récepteurs du facteur de nécrose des tumeurs (TNF); il a maintenant été démontré que ces protéines se lient au TRAIL (ligand inducteur d'apoptose lié au TNF). L'invention concerne en particulier des molécules d'acides nucléiques isolées qui codent pour les protéines DR5 humaines. L'invention concerne également des polypeptides de DR5, des vecteurs, des cellules hôtes et des procédés de recombinaison servant à produire ceux-ci.
