A foot pedal switch assembly (10) including a panel (12) for mounting a foot pedal (26) and a switching mech- anism (22), wherein the panel (12) in- cludes a debris fence (20) surround- ing the switching mechanism (22) and the pedal (26) has a cap structure (38) molded in the bottom to telescopically engage around the debris fence (20) forming a substantially continuous bar- rier to the entry of dust and debris into the switching mechanism (22).
