Disclosed is a method for decolorizing alkylated diarylamines, which have been made using aluminum chloride catalyst, by mixing and optionally heating the colored diarylamine with clay, then separating the decolorized diarylamine from the clay. Alternatively, the alkylated diarylamines, which have been made using aluminum chloride catalyst, may be decolorized by passing die diarylamines through a filter medium comprising clay.
