DECOMPOSITION OF HALOGENATED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS Abstract of the Disclosure A method for decomposing halogenated organic compounds which comprises: (a) heating the halogenated organic compound to a temperature above about 300°C. and (b) contacting the heated organic compound with a cata- lytic amount of ruthenium-platinum catalyst in the pre- sence of an oxidizing agent at a temperature of at least about 350°C.
