A decorative cover for a shaft of a golf club comprises a cylindrical member, typically made of a stretchable material, which is adapted to be installed around the shaft of the golf club and which has on a visible surface thereof one or more colours, writings and/or logos. The cylindrical member is displaceable between a first installation position and a second installed position for respectively allowing the cylindrical member to be mounted onto the shaft and for maintaining it in position on the shaft. The cylindrical member is made of a stretchable material adapted to be elastically stretched to the aforementioned first installation position for positioning the cylindrical member around the shaft and to be then released thereby assuming its second installed position on the shaft. The cylindrical member can be initially provided in a dispensing device that comprises a supply roll of cylindrical material adapted to be cut down to size to thereby form the decorative cover.
