A decorative dental overlay (100) is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The decorative dental overlay (100) includes a plastic overlay portion (102) formed to fit over at least a portion of a set of upper or lower teeth. The plastic overlay portion (102) includes a series of tooth cavities (103) that substantially fit over existing teeth. The decorative dental overlay (100) further includes at least one decorative region (105) formed on the plastic overlay portion (102).
