ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A decorative window sash frame assembly for peripherably holding a panel member, comprising: a rectangular frame comprising a left upright stile and a right upright stile spaced from each other, and a top rail and a bottom rail spaced from each other, each of the stiles and rails including a body of generally square cross-section having first and second side sections, the first side section being the section facing toward the panel member, and third and fourth sections, the third section being the section facing toward the interior of a building, the first, second, third and fourth sections being interconnected at their respective opposite ends for forming said generally square cross-section body. The first side section has parallely spaced apart first and second arms, the first arm extending inwardly toward the panel member from substantially intermediate of the first side section and the second arm extending inwardly toward the panel member from one end of the first side section, the one end being the end remote from the third section. The first and second arms having respective distal ends directed toward each other and defining a first continuous channel opening toward the panel member and receiving a peripheral edge thereof, the first side section further having a longitudinal web extending inwardly toward the panel member from a second end of the first side section, the second end being the end remote from the fourth section. The web defines together wish the first arm a second continuous channel opening toward the panel member, the web having a distal end directed toward the first arm, the first arm having a longitudinal ridge directed toward and disposed in registry with the web distal end to form together a retain- ing means. And, a decorative attachment means extending along the second channel, the decorative attachment means having engaging means engaging the retaining means to detachably retain the derorative attachment means in position relative to the frame and in such a manner that a surface of the decorative attachment means lies substantially flush with that of the distal end of said first arm.
