Influenza viruses for use in preparing human vaccines have traditionally been grown on embryonated hen eggs, although more modern techniques grow the virus in mammalian cell culture e.g. on Vero, MDCK or PER.C6 cell lines. The inventor has realised that the conditions used for influenza virus 5 culture can increase the risk that pathogens other than influenza virus may grow in the cell lines and have identified specific contamination risks. Suitable tests can thus be performed during manufacture in order to ensure safety and avoid iatrogenic infections.

Les virus de la grippe destinés à être utilisés dans la préparation de vaccins humains ont été traditionnellement cultivés sur des oeufs de poule embryonnés, même si les techniques plus modernes cultivent le virus dans une culture cellulaire mammalienne, par exemple, sur des lignées cellulaires Vero, MDCK ou PER.C6. Les auteurs de la présente invention ont réalisé que les conditions utilisées pour la culture du virus de la grippe peut accroître le risque de la possibilité de croissance pathogènes autres que le virus de la grippe dans les lignées cellulaires et ont identifié des risques de contamination spécifiques. Des tests appropriés peuvent ainsi être réalisés lors de la fabrication pour assurer la sécurité et éviter des infections iatrogènes.
