L'invention a pour objet une tête de forage profond susceptible de tourner autour d'un axe central (A-A), comprenant un corps (2) dont la partie avant (4) présente au moins un tranchant (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) suivi d'un évidement (10a, 10b) qui débouche sur un conduit (12) intérieur audit corps (2), ce conduit permettant l'évacuation vers l'arrière des copeaux susceptibles d'être formés lors du forage, caractérisée en ce qu'elle comprend à son extrémité avant et en son centre un foret pilote (20) apte à guider ladite tête lors du forage. Utilisation pour le forage de pièce de fabrication en titane, le rapport L/D entre la profondeur L du trou foré et le diamètre D de ce dernier, étant supérieur ou égal à 10, et le diamètre D étant supérieur ou égal à 65 mm.
