The invention relates to a novel deep-sea network. Existing underwater networks are formed using telecommunication cables designed for intercontinental links. The inventive network is formed by a continuous series of transport segments that are connected in the factory by repeaters or bypasss and deployed continuously from the surface by a cable ship. The novel deep-sea network is characterised in that the transport segments are independent and produced using spools (8) of optical micro-cables (9) which are provided with end connectors (10), said spools being borne by a deployment device (14) that is operated on the sea floor by an underwater vehicle. The invention is also characterised in that the nodes (11) take the form of self-powered switches to which the ends (10) of the transport segments and the local sensors (6) are connected on the sea floor. The invention is primarily intended for the production of economical networks that can be easily extended for the interconnection of deep-sea surveillance sensors.
L'invention concerne un nouveau concept de réseau sous-marin profond. Les réseaux sous-marins actuels sont réalisés suivant la technologie des câbles de télécommunications développés pour les liaisons intercontinentales. Le réseau est formé par une suite continue de segments de transport reliés en usine par des répéteurs ou par des dérivations et déployés en continu depuis la surface par un navire câblier. Le nouveau concept de réseau sous-marin profond est caractérisé en ce que les segments de transport sont indépendants et réalisés au moyen de bobines (8) de micro-câbles optiques (9) équipés de connecteurs d'extrémité (10) et portées par un dispositif de déploiement (14) mis en oeuvre sur le fond par un engin sous-marin et que les nAEuds (11) sont des commutateurs autonomes en énergie sur lesquels sont connectés au fond les extrémités (10) des segments de transport et les capteurs locaux (6). L'application principale concerne la réalisation de réseaux économiques et facilement extensibles pour interconnecter des capteurs profonds de surveillance du milieu.
