DEFINED FORCE FUSION MACHINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A portable wheeled apparatus for fusing plastic pipe having a support frame with stationary clamps attached thereto and movable clamps in axial alignment therewith. A first pipe section is secured within the stationary clamps and a second pipe section is secured within the movable clamps and are brought into contact for facing, heating and fusing by a manually operated handle. The apparatus is provided with reten- tion devices to maintain a given axial force applied to the pipe sections during fusing. An indicator device is in communication with the movable clamps to display the force applied to the pipes.
