DEFLECTION COMPENSATING ROLL ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A deflection compensating press roll is disclosed in which a stationary beam has a barrel mounted for rotation there- about and a plurality of hydrostatic elements provide selective hydrostatic support along the length of the roll. The support elements are arranged in a plurality of groups to which hydro- static pressure fluid is directed at selected pressures through pressure fluid paths which are facilitated by separate hydro- static fluid ducts.
