ABSTRACT 1 PHN. 9024 A deflection unit for a colour television dis- play tube having a field deflection coil and a line deflection coil, in which the line deflection coil is formed by two diametrically oppositely positioned coil portions which in the side adjacent the tube's screen have a flared end having a profile with a path length which is longer than the path length of the counter of the outer sur- face of the tube, so that raster defects are smaller than when profile of the flared ends conforms to the contour of the tube surface.
