This seal comprises an outer envelope (4) that may be made of PTFE, an inner core (8) made up of an air-permeable sack (9) partially filled with a granular fluid (10). When the bearing surfaces (1, 2) that are to be sealed near one another, the sack (9) is squashed, the upper volume of air (11) escapes to the outside, the grains (10) transmit a substantial contact pressure between the lips (5, 6) of the envelope (4) and the bearing surfaces (1 and 2). They may have moved during the squashing movement so as to even out the pressure by redistributing themselves in the sack even if there is a significant lack of flatness between the bearing surfaces (1, 2).
Ce joint comprend une enveloppe (4) externe pouvant être en PTFE, une âme (8) interne composée d'un sac (9) poreux à l'air et partiellement empli d'un fluide granuleux (10). Quand les portées (1, 2) à étancher s'approchent l'une de l'autre, le sac (9) est écrasé, le volume d'air supérieur (11) fuit à l'extérieur, les grains (10) transmettent une pression de contact importante entre les lèvres (5, 6) de l'enveloppe (4) et les portées (1 et 2). Ils ont pu subir des mouvements pendant l'écrasement de manière à uniformiser la pression en se répartissant dans le sac, même si des défauts de planéité importants existent entre les portées (1, 2).
