The novel use of compounds of formula (see formula I) wherein R is H or OH, A is -C~C-, -CH=CH- with E-configuration or -CH2CH2- and R" is H or, where A is -C~C-, R" may also be deuterium, for the treatment of sebaceous gland diseases, such as seborrheic dermatitis and, particularly, acne: a corresponding method of treatment as well as pharmaceutical compositions and commercial packages containing such a compound. Novel compounds of formula I, wherein R" is deuterium.
